Night Throwing 8/8/98

Daniel Thoma from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg came over to Herm's place for a typical weekend of non-stop throwing.
Unfortunately the weather gods released an overdose of KiloJoules and the two friends experienced the hottest weekend of the summer.
Throwing for more than 15 minutes didn't feel very healthy, so they decided to go carve booms in Herm's garage
and wait for the clock to strike midnight....

Shot taken during the 15 minute melting-session: Daniel Thoma (left) & Herm (right) posing with carbon Kirra's...great booms!

The true stars (f.l.t.r.): Yves Caze's Lightning Spirit with LEDS, a C22 and a Darnell with Cyalume sticks, a Thoma shape and an IceRunner with firework sticks.

Don't go C22 night throwing at home kids...

First night shot. We had some initial problems positioning the camera correctly. The window needs to be guessed in advance by making a few test throws. Of course firework sticks are limited and conditions vary constantly...

Look at the hover in the end. A few times the light source detached from the boomerang during flight, now THAT was fun! We ended up retrieving every boom, but it did add a whole new meaning to the word 'search' ....

And this last shot is a perfect one! Notice the multiple firework tracks at launch time.
Again firework sticks are used, the Cyalume & LEDS did not show up well on the pictures.

Despite the initial excessive heat, it turned out to be a fantastic weekend. And darkness sure does add an extra dose of fun to a throw session.
Don't waste your time sleeping if you can go throwing at night!
